We noticed this slatted window style in the majority of barns in Wayne County. Each barn has a variation on this theme, such as different color combinations, varying sizes, and elaborate shutters. We can only surmise that this "window" was built purely for aesthetic purposes, because it is constructed over the vertical barn siding and provides no opening to the interior.
