About Barn Ads

This section of The Barn Journal is a listing of barns, materials and related services organized by state or province. Ads are maintained for one year from date of posting. If you would like to place an ad (free of charge), send the relevant information to editor@thebarnjournal.org. Please include a city or county along with the state/province, if applicable. Submitted ads must be approved and will appear on the site within two weeks. For convenience, ads requesting the services of contractors will be placed in the Barn Contractors listing under Barn Resources.

The Barn Journal provides this listing as a public service and assumes absolutely no responsibility for accuracy of the ads or for any arrangements that may be entered into.

Important: Ads that encourage or support the razing of barns for materials are strongly discouraged unless there is absolutely no alternative or the barn has deteriorated to the point that preservation or removal as a complete structure is clearly not feasible. The Barn Journal has to rely on you for this determination. Please remember that our goal is the preservation and appreciation of vernacular rural architecture, not its dismantling.

Barn Ads Testimonials

A Michigan barn owner wrote in January 2004, "We got so much response, our barn is dis-assembled now, and is going to be reconstructed in original form."

"I placed a "For Sale" ad for my Eastern Pennsylvania Barn on your Barn Ads section…last March. We have finally reached agreement with a buyer. The barn will be reconstructed less than five miles from its present site, which is the best outcome I could have hoped for. I received numerous good inquiries from the ad, and can’t thank you enough for your great service."

"Thank you for the ad.  It had [a] wonderful response.  The barn has been claimed.  What fast results!  Thanks again."

"I placed an ad on August '99 for the sale of my bank barn.  Thanks to your ad I have sold the barn this past March.  The buyer plans to dismantle it and reconstruct it as a home."

Greg Naylor of CT, who sold his circa 1860 barn, states, "... the barn is gone and I want to advise the abundancy of interested callers."
