Barns Available for Events

This section contains a nationwide list of barns available to rent for private social events, such as wedding receptions. We currently have barns in only a few states, and we need your help to add more. If you have any information on such a barn, please let us know via email at editor@thebarnjournal.org.

Also, due to recent widespread interest in hosting wedding receptions in barns, we have dedicated a section of our bulletin board to that topic. If you are searching for a barn, or want to share your wedding reception experience, please take a look at the "Barns for Weddings and Other Events" section of The Barn Board.

Some of you may be wondering, "why a barn wedding reception?" and to help answer that question, here are some thoughtful comments from Naomi Millan of Houston, a bride-to-be on September 20, 2003:

"Recently in a few magazines there have been wedding receptions shown in barns that were absolutely gorgeous. More importantly, I think a barn symbolizes a sense of peace and oneness with the land that harmonizes well with the idea of a wedding. The idea of a barn raising and a community coming together is also important. I want a barn because the space is large and unusual and it will well reflect our love of nature and being true to the land. It will also be (if I can find one!) far less stuffy than a reception at a hotel and better foster the feelings of love and family we want to create."

We welcome you to visit The Barn Board to share your own thoughts!
